On average it takes between 4 and 7 months to build a mobile app. But as a burgeoning startup, Wednesday simply didn’t have the time to wait that long.
Wednesday’s requirements were unique in that they wanted to give companies a direct video channel to reach candidates. To achieve this, companies needed to use Wednesday to:
Interview their team and build an authentic narrative.
Send this interview content to talent within and outside the Wednesday network.
As a result, candidates would be able to access the pitch whenever, wherever and express their interest directly from there.
To successfully bring this platform to life, Wednesday needed to challenge several core assumptions. At Tinkso, we know that the fastest way to develop products is to use No-Code. Thus, we set about building an MVP.
Throughout this project, we leaned heavily on our design skills.
Wednesday is a consumer-facing product. We needed to plan for tens of thousands of potential users from the beginning. The design needed to be perfect.
Here’s how the application works:
On the back end, Wednesday Talent needed to invite hiring teams to record their pitch to prospective employees and edit the video.
Once the video pitches are ready, Wednesday then needed to let employers distribute them to candidates on the front end. Each pitch would have its own unique link that that hiring teams could send to their network. With this mechanism, scaling hiring got a lot faster.
Regardless of whether candidates were on the Wednesday platform, they needed to be able to access the pitch. Moreover, they needed the ability to express their interest to employers.
Through integrations with Typeform, we enabled prospects to accept or decline offers to join the hiring process as well as offer more detailed feedback. If interested, they could schedule a call with a Calendly integration.
This enabled employers to gain valuable information no matter the outcome while quickly scaling their hiring process. Moreover, the video aspect provided a level of personalization that had never been seen before.
For our part, the uniqueness of this project required us to flex our design muscles. And yet, we were hardly building the app from scratch. Rather, we were able to lean on our very own openBuild framework to create a beautiful, user-friendly product in a matter of weeks.
The main takeaway? Building bespoke apps that scale doesn’t need to be a 6-month job. Our method allows you to validate your product much quicker.
Overview
Wednesday is a first of its kind video-recruitment app that makes hiring easy by giving companies a direct video channel to candidates. To assess product viability, they realized that No-Code was the fastest way to build an MVP. Thus, they partnered with us at Tinkso to build a bespoke app in only 4 weeks.
