Creating a spinoff product for a law firm

placeholder

Writing a last will and testament might seem overly complicated to the layperson. But for Golbey Law, it’s an everyday activity. They already had internal processes to expedite them.

Innovation never sleeps, and Golbey Law couldn't help but wonder how to make the will-creation process better.

After some brainstorming, Golbey decided to double down and automate it entirely. That led them to create their very first product as a law firm: Dearly, a Wills-as-a-Service tool.

To build Dearly, they needed to partner with us at Tinkso. Leaning on us for our product-building skills, we got the app out to market in only 6 weeks.

Building a CPQ in No-Code

While there is a significant emotional weight to will creation for clients, the component parts are quite formulaic. Essentially, we created a CPQ (Configure, Price, Quote) using our openBuild framework for Bubble.

To make Dearly, we broke down the will-creation process into several steps to ensure that we took every critical component into consideration.

We made a user-friendly kiosk-style display to allow users to focus on one question at a time. This simplicity was important seeing as many who create a will might not be tech-savvy. Part of our objective was to minimize user frustration.

Then, users would follow a standard question sequence asking them about executors, beneficiaries, the proportions of the inheritance, and much more. We created conditional logic to account for variables like gifts and pets. The software would save all this information and inject it into parts of the templated will as needed.

Finally, the user would receive a quote. Users could then preview the will, pay for it, and then receive it in their email inbox.

On average, these wills only take about 10 minutes to create. It was a huge time saver for everyone, and a money-saver for users.

The Results

To Golbey Law, the important part was moving fast. And for such a unique platform, Golbey was satisfied that production moved as fast as it did.

We didn’t cut any corners either, by the end, Dearly was a full-fledged product that they could now test on the market.

Justin Levine, partner at Golbey Law, felt that we were a “great resource for any fast-moving business."

But it’s not just about what the business can do, it’s also about empowering employees to infuse their knowledge into bespoke products like Dearly. With our help, non-technical employees can release products too.

My company used Tinkso to rapidly create and deploy a fully functional web app to test a new way to penetrate our market. The team was quick to respond and brainstorm solutions. They are a great resource for any fast moving business.

Overview

As a business law firm, Golbey Law noticed that clients struggled to create their own wills. It’s hardly a pleasant thought, after all. Sensing an interesting market opportunity, Golbey reached out to us to help them create Dearly – a Wills as a Service (WaaS) platform. Together, we brought wills to the masses by automating key questions and more.
