We all know time is our greatest asset. And one of the worst ways to lose that asset must be by sitting in traffic. For some people this means waiting an hour for a train to pass.

Welcome to Waycross, GA, USA. A 15.000 people strong town with an enormous railyard snaking its way through. A commuter can lose up to 2 hours a day by taking the wrong turn and end up in line waiting for a freight train moving in our out of town. If you're lucky, because they can also just idle there for an hour.

A town initiative was born around the idea of a community-driven notification system that everyone could check before heading out. An app that could tell you where a crossing was blocked so you can plan your route to avoid those!

We built RailRadar, an app that simply shows users where rail crossings are blocked and how they are blocked. Are trains moving into town, out of town or did they stop in their tracks? The difference is crucial for planning the perfect route to work, school or sport.

Users can submit their own crossings which the app owner can approve and publish. Each crossing has an image taken by the user or selected from Google Streetview. And each user can report a blockage for any given crossing, keeping the community updated and saving everyone precious hours!
